About Me

Hi y'all! My name is Kaitlyn, and I am a mama to 2 little boys (Tucker is 2.5 and Bo is due in April 2016!). I wanted to start this blog when my husband, Brent, and I got married 4 years ago, but life got in the way! We almost immediately got pregnant with our first baby, and between learning to be a teacher, a wife, and a mommy all at the same time, it just didn't happen.

But I knew I wanted to call it Our Trophy Life. I loved the idea of playing on "trophy wife" because I always joke about being a "participation ribbon wife." I don't have it all together, even though I do make a mean apple pie. As a new wife and mom, it's so easy to get caught up in that myth that you need to be perfectly together: clean house, clean car, clean hair LOL.  I've followed "mommy" blogs since long before I was a mama myself, and I found sometimes lives can be painted so perfectly and it makes others feel less than. When real life looks more like third-day-dry-shampoo hair, a LARGE Dr Pepper, and mismatched socks EVERYWHERE (where do these come from?), it starts to wear on you. Am I doing this right? Why doesn't my life look like hers? Am I enough? That is NOT what I'm going for here, at ALL. My blog is about sharing craziness of motherhood and marriage.
But I also liked the play on "trophy"since I'm a football coach's wife. Our life is focused on FOOTBALL for a good half of the year. And while Friday Night Lights makes being a coach's wife seem glamorous (I mean, hello? Who doesn't want to be Tammy Taylor?), it isn't always. It's HARD, and I feel like I get it so wrong a lot of the time. We move A LOT. We eat ballgame nachos for dinner two nights a week. We watch game film at 2:00 in the morning. And I wanted to write about that and share my experiences.

I hope you'll read along.

Life isn't always GOLDEN, but it's always GOOD.
